and with thy spirit - homilette

Patient friends,

My 9.5 minutes Homilette on AND WITH THY SPIRIT can be heard on the christchurch website below as the October Homilette. If your computer has sound facilities you can hear it if you so desire.

While "with thy spirit" apply primarily to an ordained person, they do have in the Anglican family a reduced but still important meaning in reference to the lay Reader, if he through need or necessity is leading Morning or Evening Prayer.

In the R C Church when a layman leads the daily office these words are omitted.

Further, the use of AND ALSO WITH YOU is rejected as being not only a bad translation of the original latin but also a reduction of the basic doctrine of ordination.
